And as for "daddy," my mom and her sisters called their Oregon dad "Daddy" until he died at 93, so it's not just a Southern thing (or is that thang?). And because my oldest cousin heard his mother and aunts call his grandfather daddy, when he was asked, "Who's that guy?" he responded "Daddyguy." And that's what every one of the grandchildren thereafter and all of the great-grandchildren (and all the spouses) called him.
