oh goodie goodies!

After feeling a bit stressed about various January issues, the main topic being remodeling a guest bathroom and never enough time in a day, I received my prize from Suzanne at Sperlygirl which sent me into giddy gratitude for her generous offerings. The birdie painting is so alive with texture and color, I can almost hear her singing to me! And of course the Italian treats are the lagniappe to top it all off! It's good to be me!

pensive

Since I am busier than a bee hive I decided to post some calming photos of mine for the Misty Journal project about "feelings" No time today to journal so I decided to gaze upon some past memories of a slower, simpler time in my life, not so long ago...not too far away, where I lived on a tiny magical Caribbean Island, Isla Mujeres, Mexico.....a place where un-beknown to me would alter me forever. For the better. pen-sive 1. dreamily or wistfully thoughtful. 2. expressed or revealing thoughtfulness, usually marked by some sadness

Crayola moment

I put on the brakes today, my 51st birthday, to get out the crayolas and play with Misty's Journal Challenge. I grabbed my "Wreck This Journal", poured a glass of wine and begin to scribble.

PEACE

After one week of holding a pencil and loaded paintbrush drawing self portraits, my sewing machine and pincushions became very jealous of the time I was spending away from them. Today I had to spend some quality time before there was a feud in the Art Bodega, and in preparation for tomorrows celebration, I stated a new mini art quilt. Of course PEACE will be my word for the Tuesday January Journal challenge. And it all begins at home. Since I do not have a TV, I am going to Fran's house to watch Inauguration Day and make art, feel the change and celebrate hope! Mistys prompt for toady is embellishment and since I have so many current projects going all at once, I decided to share a very special fabric journal with you.It was my healing journal after I lost my home on Village Creek during Hurricane Rita. It is full of my photographs, some altered by the storm others altered with a bleach pen; drawings, fabrics, beadwork, buttons and even a rusty washer. The cover is needle felted. ( that in itself can be such a healing technique) The pages represent the loss, the love and the life once shared on the banks of that little home in the woods. That chapter of my life is closed and new life has begun here in Carmine, Texas where stormy waters no longer disturb the PEACE this girl has once again discovered.

Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'.
