gift to myself

I rarely edit my photos, although I love the artistic effects of layers and textures. I've owned Photoshop Elements for several months and all I do is crop and use the Auto Fix, one click and I am done. December Views has been an opportunity to focus on my shutterbug passion and I decided to force myself to learn a technique or two before the New Year. I finally sat still long enough this morning with a half pot of coffee and photos from our visit to Padre Island last week. The days were foggy, cool and lazy. I captured some moments that don't need much editing, but definitely deserved some playfulness. I hope you enjoy my gift.

December View #24 where the buffalo roam

Four miles from my house is an Exotic Game Ranch where Matt is restoring an old cabin in the woods. On our last visit, we arrived just in time to catch the buffalo grazing right by the fence! and YES, it's finally cold enough to wear my coat made from scraps of felted wool sweaters! Tis the season to wear PINK!!

Since I do not have a TV, I enjoy surfing You Tube. Here are a few of my favorites...I hope you like them too! It's worth your time. Some of the videos are "must watch" because of the beautiful photos or drawings. but what I love to do is listen while I type emails and upload pictures. Gotta multi-task, always! all I want for Christmas is this and this is the prettiest little song close your eyes during this one be inspired by this one this might make you cry, but definitely make you think, smile and giggle just a bit! thank you for this stand by me with this one this is Missy Higgins this one will bring back funny memories go green with this idea this and this will make you laugh out loud and this will make you give up yoga...

December Views #22 Feliz Navidad

Hard to believe that only 2 years ago I was living on an island in The Caribbean. Just look at that suntan? Here are some December Views from my neighborhood in Isla Mujeres December 2006. The children sang for money and candy, door to door, carrying their decorated branch. Just look into those big brown eyes. That was magic to see their wonder. To all my friends still in Isla, I miss you; but life is good in Texas. And I am here to stay. Mi casa , su casa, so come see me anytime you need a break from the Island Life.

December Views #21 in memory

~One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.~ dale carnegie

December Views #20

a bit of paint, a glass of wine, lots of time, spinning records and plenty of peace, love and ART!

Artist at Play

Halfway between Austin & Houston is my tiny little town of Carmine. If you blink you will miss me, but not this weekend because the bright colors will cause you to pause and do a little holiday shopping! My friends, Alan and Fran of GERSON ARTWORKS are set up between the Antique Shoppes peddling their wares right there on Highway 290, you can't miss them when you see the Art Van. Alan is the painter, sculptor and tattoo artist. His wife Frances is the dollmaker. So have a drive out to the country, and have a looksee at some local art such as PJ, shop the Antique shoppes, and come by for a sit on my porch at THE HERITAGE HAUS
