our next adventure!

Since our B&B is not ready to reopen for business, we are using a friends commercial kitchen Airstream to work the Spring Antique Show at The Arbor Antique Show. We will sell healthy lunch foods, soups of the day and homebaked goods...we will call ourselves THE HAPPY BELLY!!
This photo cracks me up...like Carnival mirrors!!

acts of kindness

No kind action ever stops with itself.
One kind action leads to another.
Good example is followed.
A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions,
and the roots spring up
and make new trees.
The greatest work that kindness does to others
is that it makes them kind themselves.
~Amelia Earhart~

I'm gonna get real sentimental here for just a moment or two.
One year ago, our friends, neighbors and community did THIS for us
when we were down and out after our flooded home destroyed our B&B business.

Tomorrow we are helping with a local fundraiser
to benefit Gary Keeton a guitar player
who occasionally plays with the Black Cat Choir.
He is battling throat cancer.

The time has come for all of us to band together, lend a hand to help our neighbor.
We are tiny, yet mighty

The unbelievable sense of community, support and loyalty we have
here in Round Top, Texas,
Population 77
is unmeasurable.

Matt and I  know this first hand.

Like my friend Chuck Sullivan said,
"Let's help Gary get through the difficulties
of the treatment for throat cancer.
Let's do what Round Top does best
help each other"

pond be gone

after two years of Texas drought,
our frog pond went bone dry.
It had become such an eyesore,
that we decided to fill it in and maybe have a garden?
after much thought and truckloads of money, the filling begin
did we do the right thing?
get back with me in May when he mows every day.
Ask me again in August when the temps rise over 100 degrees, with no rain in months

looking back...

a friend in need, indeed

Come on out, dig deep, open your hearts and support our friend who has brought music to our ears, dancing to our feet and joy in our hearts!

Sharing my Joy

My friend Meri hosts
and I am here to
JUMP AND SHOUT AND CELEBRATE

 the fact that my son
please visit the above link
will be returning Stateside
in less than 30 days.

He has almost completed his second tour of duty as a Scuba Diver for The Army. He will return home to Virginia to his bride and my favorite daughter-in-law EVER, Rachel, along with his easy chair, remote and Sunday Football, Tug, Dixie and Emma ( my grand canines and feline)

I can not even begin to describe to you
how this Mommas heart is filled with joy

I will soon be able to randomly call him on occasion for no reason at all, other than to hear his sweet voice, and feel his smile thru the phoneline. I will shift my natural maternal worries to the streets of Richmond instead of the deserts and dark rivers in Iraq. And if I want to I can book a flight to be in his mighty arms in only a few hours...to smell his skin and look deep into those eyes, and KNOW....
just what a mother needs to know.

Zydeco

~Zydeco Dancing~ "Because of the very lively music, the overall style is small sidewise steps with relatively steady upper body and no hip swinging, wiggling or jumping. There are exceptions to this rule, but feel of the zydeco is very real and consistent. Zydeco dance can be described as the opposite of swing or ballroom since the direction or feel of the dance is down, not up like swing or ballroom."

Now with that being stated by Wikipedia, I broke some of the rules because I swung my hips just a bit, wiggled a plenty and jumped all about. The Zydeco music is so alive, fresh and upbeat that not one body part can remain still if you are in the same room...oh that squeeze box, washboard and rich voices that lure you onto the dancefloor for hours and hours in to the wee hours of midnight, which I normally do not experience, unless I am dancing!!
