Pockets of Dreams

My contribution to Monicas aDRESSing the Situation is a vintage dress that I already had in my collection of old linens. When I was rummaging for old lace I came upon this tattered dress. The delicate cotton fabric with tiny pink flowers has brownish-ruddy colored stains and holes which uncomfortably reminded me of the tragic murders in Juarez. I transfered onto muslin pockets my own photographs of the young girls in IslaMujeres where I lived in Mexico. I wrote their imaginary dreams onto some very old weathered tags, slipped them inside the pockets with some Baby Rosaries, pages from an Altar Book and my own handwriten hopes for their lives.

Dear Deb,
What a creative work of art. The pocket with the soulful faces and filled with thoughts and wishes. Very beautiful and heartfelt.

Your bed and breakfast looks charming! One day I will come your way. I too live in Texas in a very small historic town.
