my softball coach. loved fried chicken, BBQ and homemade pie. and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

He sounds like a man's man and probably a real character as well. And as for "daddy," my mom and her sisters called their Oregon dad "Daddy" until he died at 93, so it's not just a Southern thing (or is that thang?). And because my oldest cousin heard his mother and aunts call his grandfather daddy, when he was asked, "Who's that guy?" he responded "Daddyguy." And that's what every one of the grandchildren thereafter and all of the great-grandchildren (and all the spouses) called him. Daddyguy.
Oh Meri, that "Dadddyguy" story is priceless! I love it. Thanks for sharing. and Kim, what I wouldn't give to get just one hour back with my Daddy. ~ thanks for the hug~
Ι feel the same way. I lost my Dad when I was 8.I felt his absence mostly in my adolescence.I feel orphan until these days. I miss his love, his protection, his voice. Deb, I'm sure our fathers, see us from above. Love from Athens.

Is it just a thing with us down South to call our fathers "Daddy"? He sounds like he was my kind of man.
