I love my job!

Or actually to be exact...I LOVE MY LIFE! I chose this Bed & Breakfast as a "lifestyle" It caters to my desire to be a "stay-at-Homechick", be the hostess with the mostest, entertain, cook, serve, nurture, meet new interesting people and create memories. My guests become friends. And this particular group of friends had such an impact on how important my chosen lifestyle can be for others. It's all about sharing. We all need each other. And we all need alot more hugs, love, gatherings, reunions and get-aways. Meet more of my new friends and extended family...and read their letter about their "Our stay at Heritage Haus...

Hi Deb

Hope you and Matt are doing well.

I wanted to let you know that Beth and I walked a Cancer Relay for Life for Erin on Friday and our stay at your B&B was brought up over and over. Erin's father could not say enough how much Erin and Bunny enjoyed staying and getting to know you and Matt. Erin has framed the paper angels you have sent her and has put one beside her bed. She lights up when she talks about our weekend, and I truly believe we were all meant to learn something about ourselves that weekend that we couldn't learn on our own. I will never forget that weekend with Erin, and it turned out exactly how I had hoped it would. I plan to bring her back for a "girlfriend" retreat. I will get in touch as soon as I get some plans together. Thank you and Matt so much for being such beautiful people and we all feel like we left as different people than when we arrived. Much love and hugs....

Happy Birthday Daddy

If my Daddy was alive he would turn 77 today. I would bake him a Peanut Butter Banana Cake, since those were his two favorite flavors! We would go for a long drive to see the Texas wildflowers, eat pie for breakfast, something fried for lunch at a countryside diner, drink wine on the porch after dinner and rock and talk and rock and talk. He was wise. A true family man. Funny. Creative. Strong. I miss him. How can 19 years go by, so much has changed and still feel like he should walk right in my door with a towell over his shoulder and start cooking dinner? I wish I could show him that I am a successful business owner. I want him to know that I am loved by a man, Matt, with undying devotion and wholehearted committment. I want him to know Scooter as the fine man he has become, a wise old soul who makes me so proud to be a Mother. I want to say "Daddy, my brother Mike is walking in your footsteps as a father to Brady and Colby. He truly is the devoted father and also husband to Dana, you would be so proud of." And I would tell him that David, my baby brother is clean and sober, happily married to Patty and he walks a straight line with his God, or shall I say "rides his motorcycle with the Crusaders for Christ." And me and Mom share so many special times together laughing, creating and enjoying life! So on this day, 77 years ago when you were born, I celebrate and honor your memory. love, your Baby Girl aka "Little Bit"

Women of Round Top

It has been my privilege and utmost honor to photograph so many strong, beautiful, brave women for the "Women of Round Top" 2009 Calendar fundraiser for Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. If a picture paints a thousand words, well then the photos and untold stories are infinite. Have a look at the slideshow above for the complete set of photos.
