Waxahachie, Texas

Downtown Waxahachie is an odd mixture of glitter, galleries, and glam mixed up against rusty dusty unique antiques and boutiques. I snapped a few shots along my way, enjoying the cool air after a late thunderstorm rolled thru town. It was refreshing to be near the familiar old broken brick buildings with a century of tales to be told, if only those walls could talk. The best part of my walk, was the clomping of horseshoes along the hot summer pavement. Now THAT is a true Texas Tale!

miles of smiles

With Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat in my rear view window, this hippie chick has returned to the country with a fullmoon over her shoulder and a boyfriend back into her arms. It was another wonderful gathering of women from Louisiana to Oklahoma and every corner of the State of Texas. They glittered and glued, cut and cropped, stamped and stained, painted and pasted...ate cupcakes and frosting shots, talked alot, laughed even more and most of all...made new friends and rekindled the old. My "Found and Rebound Journal" class I taught was not long enough...I could have created with those women all afternoon. They made some beautiful books, stitched with love and creativity. I look forward to another event just like this one, minus the glitter in my morning coffee!!

Summer Solstice

So here it is. Welcome summer in all your blistering Texas heat...mosquitoes, fire ants, grasshoppers, snakes and chiggers marinated with 98 degrees and 98% humidity.  We really do love you in some sort of odd, sick, obsessive, lusty way.
We cuss you when you are here, yet we long for you in bitter January days.
I want my red wine to be chilled and I crave watermelon. I eat lots of cucumbers and jicama. I stand under the cold shower three times a day. My bandana is wet around my neck and I want to shave my head.

Is it January yet?

Consider this a Random Act of Kindness...an ongoing project... summer fun with kids to teach kindness and the art of giving...or just something that will brighten your day as well as others...come on...FLIP OUT WITH US...??? I got the painting blues

History repeated itself this week. I am a freak when it comes to PAINT! I stress about color, I buy the wrong color, I return the color, thankfully to be altered by Sherwin Williams who has become my new best friend! We are moving at a rapid pace this week, finalizing colors....as you can see, I switched from a robin egg blue to historical retro green after much cursing, foot stomping, brush slinging and even a few tears! Then I sit back and finally say "ahh. I love it"  Later this week we hope to install tin ceiling tiles and maybe even a floor! And maybe the "Gotta Get a Kitchen Blues" will all fade away.

Friends are like the pillars on your porch...sometimes they hold you up, sometimes they lean on you, and sometimes it's just enough to know that they are standing by  ~ Jack Handy ~
