Begin Deepening

it is not easy being hard.....

my bones, teeth and horns can not remain buried
I am here to stay
Like a Phoenix I will arise
and return again and again
looking beyond my ragged and torn edges
reaching higher up thru the dirty mess

the Soul work I am doing with Catherine Just in her
BEGIN DEEPENING e-course is pushing me into
some uncomfortable corners of self awareness,
bare truth story telling, mind map journal writing and
photo techniques to deepen the way I shoot myself and share.

You can hurt me for just a minute. I curl up in a ball. I weep.
Yet when I  emerge with stronger wings,
I will fly away from this pain.
I refuse to hide
burning memories. the ones that need to.
reaching up higher and harder

and at the end of the day, ya just gotta laugh at all the crazy !

Making Magic Selfies

This is the time of year when funny hats, costumes, wigs and masks come out of the closet. And so do we. We play dress up. We role play.

here is my backstory about this photo...2013

The prompt that day was "experiment with stillness and movement" as well as another concept of "In Disguise" So I dressed up silly, sorta sexy. The combination made me laugh out loud just as I heard footsteps approaching my wide open front door. So here I am...on the floor, scantily dressed in vintage corset, wig, funky glasses, sipping wine front of my camera and tripod. Uhm...yes. The moment of outburst laughter is what made this photo work.

I am hosting an online party until the end of month ( Instagram and Facebook ) #MakeMagicSelfie
Come join the fun..

Tell me, what calls your name to dress up and play another role that does not fit your ordinary daily routine?
Is it a funky hat ? Maybe an old leather vest ? Or how about those black patent pumps ?
This is the time of year where costumes and parties invite us to become someone else…or are we really dressing up to be just like ourselves?

Liam, my Grandson

This is what 5 months old of wonder looks like

Liam is curious, active, sweet, precious and smart
He tries to talk to me with gurgles and squeals
When we lock eyes, the world stops
I am so in love

The only thing wrong with Liam is that he lives so far away and my heart aches to see him more than I possibly can make happen
Heck, my son is 32 and I wish I could see him more than long road trips and short weekends
So photos and movies fill my heart until the next time this
Angel Child is in my arms again

the following photo is featured this month over at The Hours

The Burning Question

...how do you want it to feel?

Danielle LaPorte asked me...

I answered it

~I want my backyard to feel like childhood tents made from bed sheets and coffee tables
~I want my love to feel like a birthday bubble bath in Scotland
~I want my breakfast to feel like a field of Sunflowers in France
~I want my friendships to feel like faded 501's, clove cigarettes, patchouli suntan shoulders
~I want my dinner tongue to feel like fireworks laced with Wasabi and Cabernet
~I want my kitchen to feel like Frida Kahlo eating mangoes in rainforest herb gardens
~I want my grandchildren to feel like Pee Wee’s Playhouse

Walk to End Alzheimer's

We finally walked the walk

After a busy month of Purple Art Party planning,
fundraising and promoting, we did it !!!
"Walk to End Alzheimer's"

It wasn't about the money raised or
miles we walked...it was all about the love and support we experienced

and the water fountain !!

Our campaign is open until
the end of September

sweet moments on the porch

The photo above is my 3 PM feature over at The Hours
a photo project I am proud to be a part of.

Afternoons spent on the porch with my Mom
and stepdad Jack are priceless.
Words not necessary !

Backstory : some days are hard for Jack. It might take 2 hours to eat dinner. And sometimes unknowing what to do with a fork in his hand. Yet when it comes to ice cream cones, the mind never forgets!!
