Deployed

In a few hours this flag will hang in my front window.
Each stitch by myself, Matt, Rachel and Scooter.

Nine months in Kuwait.
Rachel is Rock Steady as his Brave Heart wife.
My son, Sgt Kyle Broughton, is serving his third tour of duty as a Scuba Diver for the Army.
He is proud, brave, devoted and strong. I could not be more proud.
But no lie....my heart is broken. The sacrifice. The distance.
The separation.

But when I see their faces and witness the steadfast love they have for each other, I stand taller, cry a little bit less, and dig a little bit deeper into my own tenacity for tough times.

Stay strong
Keep focused
Look forward

SEWN

Sew...I am taking an online workshop with Mary Ann Moss
because apparently she is my new kindred spirit
who loves to sew on paper...
which you know is one of my favorite passions !!

I am outa control making patterns,
painting on every flat surface I can find.

Now this......my journal cover !!

love letters

he leaves me lovenotes...you know the kind...
handwritten, scribbled, and lovingly placed in surprise places
some are so tiny, yet packed with huge love
he doodles. he says it's just a bunch of lines. I say bullshit.
THIS. IS. ART.
I call it "Mattangling"
some call it Zentangle
he collects, refurbishes vintage fountain pens. he replaces the sac, burnishes the nib, builds these beautiful cases from cigar boxes!
he converted an old portable sewing cabinet into his treasure chest!
and then late one magical night....he let me use his glass dip pen
I doodled in my art journal...
normally I paint, smoosh, cut & paste

I wrote a love letter with a sweet fine tip fountain pen

I am changed forever.
