mirage in the sky

Mirage
1. An optical phenomenon that creates the illusion of water, often with inverted reflections of distant objects, and results from distortion of light by alternate layers of hot and cool air.
2. Something illusory or insubstantial. 22 days in a row, temps above 100 degrees. Austin NPR reports that our dry heat wave has broken the record since 1880. That beautiful thunder cloud was only a tease, as we all witnessed the amber light fill the sky. Matt and I sang the 'RainDance" song all the way home..."ah, uni kuni cha ah uni. ay yi yi icky ki yi amos" Result of too much wine? belly full of delicious dinner? hugged by good friends? No, just parched and wishing for rain. And stay tuned for news on my upcoming part in Cooking School at Lenores OutPost. I am teaching how to make the Best Ever Margarita and Chocolate Chipotle Cake. Last night was our "dry run"

Why did the song "Spirit in the Sky" come to mind?

Looking at the name of that cake, I call that a "wet run"!
That cloud formation was beautiful...too bad it was a dud.
